ADRA Yemen welcomes volunteers and interns. We enjoy the opportunity to help others learn about development work in Yemen and to benefit from their experiences and expertise. Volunteers and interns may contribute their time on a full– or part–time basis, depending on the needs of our program and the volunteer’s schedule and abilities. Most volunteers/interns work with ADRA Yemen for 1—6 months. Those interested in longer–term positions are also encouraged to review our ‘Vacancies’ page.
ADRA Yemen’s employment practices also apply to our volunteers and interns:
The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is an independent humanitarian agency established by the Seventh–day Adventist Church with the purpose of individual and community development and disaster relief around the world. We help people in more than 120 countries without regard to age, ethnicity, politics or religion.
ADRA is committed to equal employment opportunities for all individuals. ADRA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, age, national origin, marital status, or handicap/disability in its hiring and employment practices. ADRA is an agency of the Seventh–day Adventist Church and those employees of ADRA who are internationally recruited but not members of the Seventh–day Adventist Church are expected to accept the Seventh–day Adventist philosophy of humanitarian service and practice a lifestyle consistent with ADRA policies and Seventh–day Adventist beliefs.
ADRA Yemen is currently implementing a variety of programs throughout Yemen (see the “Current Programs” section for more detailed information). Our headquarters is located in the capital, Sana’a. Intern/volunteer opportunities may be available in Sana’a or the field offices, depending on the individual projects’ needs, accommodation availability, security, and other factors.
Our ongoing needs include editing reports, conducting research for programs and funding opportunities, and increasing staff capacity through computer or language training. Each of our programs has specific needs and may be able to use volunteers’ strengths to contribute to program activities or trainings in different ways.
ADRA Yemen cannot provide any compensation to volunteers working with us for fewer than 3 months, though work–related expenses may be reimbursed. In some project areas, housing may be provided. Volunteers who will be with ADRA Yemen for over three months may be eligible for a small stipend, which would be decided on a case–by–case basis.
If you are interested in volunteering or interning with ADRA Yemen, please fill out the ADRA Yemen volunteer information sheet. E–mail that sheet and a copy of your CV to info@adrayemen.org, and a staff member will be in touch with you. Thank you!
