In cooperation with UNHCR and local NGO al–Tadhamon, ADRA held a handicrafts exhibit and sale from June 13th—June 20th at LuLu Hypermarket. All Products were hand–made by producers at ADRA’s craft makers workshop in Kharaz camp as well as the Takawal cooperative, which produces items in workshop space furnished by ADRA. The sale of the items produced directly benefit the women of the community and often serves as a sole source of income. Producers sold nearly $250 worth of merchandise. 80% of the proceeds from items made in ADRA’s worksho will go directly to the producers, while 100% of proceeds from items made by cooperative will go to producers.
The official opening of the Handicrafts Exhibit and Sale was presided over by Mr. Abdulkareem Shaif, General Secretary of the Aden Local Council, and attended by numerous representatives from UNHCR, ADRA and al–Tadhamon.
