Importance of Education Public Performance

On June 10, the LIR team, in cooperation with local performing troupe Siamo Banda and al–Amal Club, held the first public showing of their “Importance of Education” campaign.

The performance was located in the center of the Basateen marketplace on a small stage and Siamo Banda performed Somali songs and a 30 minute skit which expressed the value of pursuing educational and training opportunities for a better future. The objective of this performance and its public location was to reach an audience that did not usually attend LIR events and did not have access to this message and these ideas. It received a very enthusiastic reception, with over 200 people crowding around the stage to watch and cheer. Following the skit, the organizers received positive feedback from audience members, many approaching the team to ask about how to further their education and for more public performances like this.
