Location: Sana’a, Aden, and Lahj
Project Duration: July 1– December 31, 2011
Target beneficiaries: Populations of Sana’a, Aden and Lahj directly affected by protracted civil unrest
Program Description:
In case of a protracted civil unrest in Yemen, the YCP project intends to address the basic, priority needs of local populations in two sectors - WASH and Emergency Shelter - and thus provide:
• water with purifying water solutions
• essential WASH items to maintain good hygiene practices
• essential NFIs including gas/electricity substitutes
• and shelter related NFIs to those whose accommodation may be damaged and/or inaccessible
The project targets a total of eight districts within the governorates of Aden and Lahj and Sana’a city. Water will be supplied from two focal places in each district, preferably schools and mosques to which local population may be easily referred, while purifying solutions and hygiene kits should be distributed at the start of the crisis situation. The focal places will also serve as temporary shelters for those who cannot return to their homes.
Current Activitie:
The project team is being recruited while the focal places in each district are being identified. The procurement team is obtaining price quotations so as to procure all required items as soon as funding is received.
