Local Integration of Refugees

This project is funded by the government of the Netherlands to help refugees, many of whom have been in Yemen for up to 16 years, settle in the country. This project will work with refugees and local Yemeni communities in the areas of education, self–reliance, and government advocacy.

The project focuses on the following:

  1. Economic self–reliance through income–generating activities, small credits, and job–oriented skills development
  2. Education by facilitating and supporting community access to primary education, vocational training and higher education through grants and scholarships
  3. Community development activities that will build the capacity of both refugees and the local population in organizing themselves and to be able to represent various community groups
  4. Raising awareness and advocacy to pave the way for an enabling environment, and respectively a receptive attitude within the host community.
