Support Program for Somali and Ethiopian Refugees
Donor: U.S. Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration
Location: Basateen, Aden and Kharaz Refugee Camp, Lahij Governorate
Project Duration: September 2008—August 2009
The Support Program for Somali and Ethiopian Refugees is funded by the United States Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM). This one–year program, effective September 15, 2008 — September 14, 2009, complements ADRA’s ongoing refugee projects in southern Yemen: the Local Integration of Refugees Project in Basateen, funded by the Dutch Government; the Self Reliance for Refugees Project in Kharaz, funded by ADRA Norway; and the Community Development for Refugees Project (CDPR) in Kharaz and Basateen, funded by UNHCR.
The goal of this Support Program is to improve the psychosocial health and social adjustment of 14,000 refugees living in Kharaz Refugee Camp and Basateen, Aden. Within this goal, the project has three main objectives:
- improve the psychosocial well–being and protection of refugees
- increase livelihood skills among the target population
- improve the social adjustment of the target population
The project will be implemented in both Kharaz and Basateen.
